I was not kidding when I stated that I was heading down to Wonderland today.
It really was a wonderland, a man-made euphoria. Okay, okay, maybe you might not believe me but it was perhaps, MY definition of euphoria.
So I woke up, performed fajr prayers and prayed that Wonderland will be a wonderful promise as how I was hoping it would be.
So where is this Wonderland that I am talking about?
It is somewhere in Haji Lane.
37 Haji Lane to be exact.
Can you see the name of the shop?
Shop Wonderland!
Told you I was gonna be in Wonderland.
Upon entering Wonderland, I was mesmerised by the beautiful ribbons which filled up the ceiling and the warmness of the staff as well as the ambience of the interior.
I headed upstairs.
After all, I was there for a reason.
I simply could not stop smiling as I looked up as how cozy this place really is.
What's more, the entire place smelled of flowers..hmm...
Euphoria...
I later learned that one of the staff of Shop Wonderland held her solemnisation ceremony on the second level and had their dinner in the first level some time back. She filled the ceiling up with ribbons and the owner, Melissa, decided to just keep the deco from then on.
Good idea Melissa!
I would do the same if I was her too.
The second level was filled these beautiful cards and framed wordings which were made available for anyone to purchase anytime they feel like it.
As well as candles.
Or if you are just there to chill and kill time, you can grab a magazine along with a cup of coffee.
So why was I there?
Floral bouquet classes, that's why.
My love for flowers have gotten the better of me. Since I was pretty much at the flower shop every weekend, I decided to learn some floral arrangement. I stumbled upon shopwonderlandsg via instagram last week and learned that they conducted classes there. Aside from that, they also create bespoke floral bouquet for pretty much any special occasions.
Meet Melissa, the super sweet and friendly owner of Shop Wonderland as well as the person conducting the class. She explained about the different types of flowers we were working on and gave up some useful tips about these beautiful creations as well.
Here's a tip I'm gonna share with you which I learned:
Tip No. 1:
If you want your peonies and roses to bloom, put them in warm water.
Tip No. 2:
If your hydrangeas look tired or dry, soak them in water, head first. this is because the petals drink water as well.
Here's the flowers we were given to work with. We were definitely spoilt for choice.
We can choose to use all the flowers or pick and choose them any way we envisioned them to be.
Halfway through our class, some customers decided to come up to level 2 and have a quick bite. Melissa did not mind it at all. Some just came up to check out what was going on. It really was a warm and cozy place.
So after conditioning (which actually means removing the leaves) of all the flowers, we learned to created our bouquet. We did have a lot of flowers we could choose from. Yeah, Melissa sure spoilt us silly, thank you Melissa :)
Everyone worked on one big beautiful bouquet.
I, on the other hand, was working on one bouquet first. Then I realised my bouquet was too small after Melissa helped me tie them up.
Here's the result of bouquet number 1, taaa daaaaa...
I am not gonna lie, I love how the peony bloomed here.
Oh yes, Shop Wonderland, you guys sure did not disappoint my expectation.
Below is the up close and personal view of bouquet number 2 which happened by accident. I was not planning on 2, I just did not wish to waste the oh-so-beautiful flowers.
Melissa then helped us wrap up our tied bouquets so that we can bring these lovelies home.
I can't help falling in love with all the bouquets made by pretty much everyone in class.
So here's how mine looks like.
I don't care what others have to say about my bouquets, I love them.
love, love, loveeeee
These 2 babies had the first class seat in my baby Caliph as we headed home.
Dear Shop Wonderland,
I had a super great time there. I was worth every minute of my time. In fact, not once during the lesson did I even look at my watch to see what time it was or how long more till lesson end. I was too submerged with the flowers and before I know it, we were coming to an end. I met nice people there and I do hope I will be able to learn more from you guys in the future.
From what I learned today, I know I'll be exercising what I learned realll soon.
Let's just hope it works.
Thank you Shop Wonderland :)
Love,
Naime
