Setting Spray

According to the description, the Urban Decay's (All Nighter) setting sprays are supposed to keep make up looking new without the worry of melting, cracking, meltdown and more. As I read the reviews from various sources and viewed videos of users, it seems like the setting spray is a good buy. One video I watched, the user tested out the product for 12 hours without touch up and I thought, this seems like it's worth a shot.

I was checking this product online on Sephora but it seems that they are currently out of stock, both the De-slick Oil-Control and the All Nighter version. I decided to make my way down to Sephora ION outlet and checked out if they have any in store.

I bumped into Ten Ten again who of course was such an amazing help. Needless to say, I ended up buying a few other make-up products which came in handy after I tried them out. I shall talk about them in another separate blog post another time.

So Ten Ten recommended the Urban Decay's All Nighter setting spray for my skin type and guess what, they only had 1 left. Erwin wanted 1 too. I thought of trying out the De-slick or the Chill version instead and let Erwin have the All Nighter. But my dear Erwin (being a sweetheart that she is), gave me a call and told me to get her the Chill version instead.

A couple of days ago, I had the opportunity to be able to have my make-up on the entire day without the need to remove them. I decided to head to work with make up and used the setting spray at the end of it all.

Check out the look below. I was ready for work by 7am in case you are wondering.

First look (above): Taken at 7.05am before I dash off to my work place.

Second look (above): Taken at 12 noon. Make up still looks decent considering the humid weather and the heat we are experiencing.

Last look for the day (above): Taken at around 6pm, after almost 12 hours with the make up on.
No touch-up whatsoever.

What do I think?

I love it!!! I did not have to worry about my make-up or how I look. I just went on through my day doing everything else and not having to worry about the way I look. I did noticed that when I reached home, my make up had faded a bit, but I was wearing a thin layer after all. If I had a thicker layer, I might not notice the fading. So I am happpppyyyy.

This, I approve!

A New Skill

'Give a woman the right make-up, she can conquer the world!'

-Charlotte Tilbury

I am perhaps one of the laziest person I know that cannot be too bothered about cosmetics. There's foundations, liquid foundations, pressed powders, shades of eyeshadows, blending, smokey eyes, strobing and what what else. *rolls me eyes*

I like to think that I am fine and confident with the way I look without any make-up on. Just my bare naked face. However, as time goes by, I do noticed my eye bag and the dark circles making their appearance known and noticed whenever I meet potential vendors, networking and worst, during weddings. Yikes!!!

So, as part of project Capturing2016 goes, I decided to add to the list; picking up make-up skills.

It is funny how I would model for make-up artists and photographers for their portfolio, yet I am clueless when it came to putting colours on my face. I enlisted the help of Erwin and a few other MUA friends of mine and asked for tips. Due to my crazy busy schedule, they pointed to out some youtube videos I could check out and learn from. Erwin is always answering my random questions that popped in my head anytime of the day and night. She's a blessing I tell you. Along the way I looked for non-sponsored videos of vloggers who have a close range skin tone such as mine to learn from. I prefer these as I feel they would give honest feedback. I prefer the Armenian ladies as I believe their skin tones are closer to mine and learned a thang or two from them. Some vloggers would wear the product the entire day and show how the product looks on them a good 12 hours later.

What happens next....

Sephora and I (as well as a few other make-up counters and sales rep) became best friends.

Ten Ten, an über friendly sales representative from ION Sephora was so helpful in picking out the stuff I need which are suitable for my skin tone and skin type. She saw how clueless I was in the store and approached me. Mind you, it was my first ever visit to any Sephora outlet and this girl was a lifesaver. She made me felt so welcome as she patiently entertained my needs.

So with all these products now available in my personal collection, how did I look?

Here's how I looked when I first put on the make-up. I was going for a natural look, nothing pumped up or glammed up. I was, after all, heading to yet another wedding by the seaside.

A few hours later, here's how I looked.

I don't think I looked too bad.

I learned to cover some obvious spots using liquid concealers, some powders and a little more stuff here and there. The power of make-up and learning from various videos from youtube. I must say, I am happy learning this new skill and I think I'll be having some fun putting them on when I head out to meet my besties soon.
